Matilda Dress

Finally I can show you the newest member of my shirt dress family! It has been finished and in my closet for a while now, I took the pictures in March, but the pattern has only been released this weekend so I waited patiently. I test sewed this dress in February and March for Megan Nielsen. It is called Matilda and it is a cute little shirt dress with lots of smart details. I got an email from the Megan Nielsen Team and all I had to do was click on a button, if I was okay with the conditions and wanted to test sew. No race, no application, no stress. Continue reading

Coombe

I just finished this dress in time to show it off before it gets too warm here. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make it, it took me all winter and most of autumn to finish this thing. I don’t think anything ever took me so long so complete. Teh dress started with a big 1 kg ball of fiber that Marvin gave me for my birthday. The fiber is from Australian Merino Sheep and very fine and soft. It was combed into roving and consisted of 3 different shades of red, you can find a product picture of it here. Sadly I didn’t take a picture of the huge roving ball I had, looked ridiculous, and I remember thinking that I would never finish spinning it. Continue reading

Colette Rue – Second Attempt

Maybe some of you remember: last summer Colette sent me their newest pattern to sew it up before they released it. It is called Rue, it features a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. The front bodice consist of three parts that, sewn together, create interesting seam lines. The dress didn’t fit me that well, but to me it looked like it fitted me like it fitted the model on the envelope more or less. Continue reading

Darling Ranges

I sewed another dress! Winter is a good as over (at least that’ s what I’m telling myself) and my dress isn’t that suitable for winter weather, so that is very convenient ;) Last weekend there even was a short window of time were temperatures were above 0°C AND it was only raining a little. I Took that chance and asked Marvin to take some pictures of my new not so wintry dress :) Continue reading

Laurel Dress

There are some projects that I spend ages on, when in fact they shouldn’t‘t take me that long. Most often these are projects that I‘m not very passionate about right from the beginning. Today I’ll be showing you a dress where the passionlessness started with the pattern. Colette‘s Laurel Dress. Definitely not my usual style. Because, well: the bodice isn’t fitted and the skirt isn’t flared ;) But I found myself drawn to this pattern every other time. I have tried this pattern before once. I sewed the dress for a job interview and ended up wearing something else ;) Continue reading

Colette Rue

colette_rue_ver1_full_2I sewed another dress ;) And I used a brand new pattern. And here’s the story behind that: a while ago the people behind the sewing pattern label Colette were looking for bloggers who wanted to test their new pattern pre release and give them feedback. I write ‘test’ but the pattern was already ready and tested and everything it was more about trying it out, seeing if you like it and if you like the fit. Continue reading

Svaneke

img_20160821_145634You’re looking at the preview picture thing ‘A dress? Again? Didn’t she say she had enough dresses?!’. Weeell, the joke is on you! This isn’t a dress it’s a shirt and a skirt and it looks like a dress, hahahaha. But technically it isn’t. Both pieces even came as one pattern. Svaneke it is called and it is one of many vintage patterns by HowToDoFashion. Nanna wrote me and kindly offered me to pick one of the patterns to test it. I picked Svaneke and she also sent me Dragør, that I sewed while ago. And now it was time for Svaneke. Because you can always use a shirt. And a skirt. Continue reading

Dragør

img_20160717_160839Surprise! I sewed another dress! ;) And because I get asked a lot, here’s the explanation at the beginning of the post. I like sewing! And especially I like sewing dresses. That’s why I do it so much ;) To me sewing is about the process itself not about having and wearing lots of beautiful dresses. So when I want to sew a dress I don’t really ask myself how this dress should look to fit into my wardrobe, most of the time I don’t even ask myself if I really need another dress. Continue reading

Emery Dress the Second

img_20160703_124522As announced in my post on my first attempt on the Emery Dress pattern, I adapted the pattern’s bodice a lot and sewed a second version. I had problems with a gaping neckline and some weird sitting bust darts at the first attempt. I wore this dress three times since I showed it here and already the fabric is starting to unravel itself at the bust darts stitching. Also the gaping of the front neckline really annoys me and I don’t think this dress will last until next summer, maybe it will not even last this summer. Continue reading

Today I’m carrying some watermelons..

img_20160626_165119Well, I’m not really carrying them, I’m wearing them. But as the German word for carrying is the same as the one for wearing, this is a super funny pun in German, you just have to believe me ;) It would even be better, if I had actually seen Dirty Dancing. Shame on me: I haven’t! Now it’s out. But I can make good for that! I have a new dress to show off! And yes, it is over and over with pieces of watermelons! I bought it at the end of summer last year and as this obviously is a fabric for a summer dress I waited til recently to turn it into a dress. Continue reading
