I tried to get my hands on some local Alpaca fibre, but my favorite dealer (we often go there and take a walk with the alpacas) didn’t have any left when I started spinning and he referred my to another alpaca farm not far from here. I phoned with the lovely owner and she sent me 900g of already washed and carded fibre of her Suri Alpacas. And this is were the story of Marvin’s new Alpaca Cardigan starts. Continue reading

MeMadeMay Week 1
The first week plus a few days of this year’s MeMadeMay have passed and as promised I’ll show you what I wore. I published daily pictures in my sidebar and no where else. I didn’t sign up on Zoe’s Blog and I didn’t pledge anything to anyone either. But my secret goal is to have a lot of fun ;) Continue reading
Sailor Jeans
Last weekend I had a revelation. I have been thinking about sailor pants for while now, because I frequently get asked about a pair of Sailor shorts that I made a while ago. They didn’t fit properly and the pattern was a little shitty too. So when people asked me about it, I always advise against the pattern and suggest trying this Burda pattern instead. I have this pattern at home, but I never tried it. The pants are a little too tight and also a little too short for my taste. Continue reading
New Shirts
It is spring and my to sew list grows and grows. I am highly motivated and I have a lot more ideas than I have time to realize them. At least not all of them. Two new shirts recently made it into my wardrobe. Because I have made and written about both patterns several times I will show you both new shirts at once. Here we go.
Faux Cables Cardigan
The temperature has dropped since last weekend and I don’t mind, because that means it is cold enough to wear cardigans again :) Plus I have knitted several pieces that I haven’t blogged about yet, so I used a short break from the rain to take pictures. I made that cardigan half a year ago, I think it took me so long to blog about it because I made it from store-bought yarn, which kind of feels like cheating now that I can make my own yarn. Also I didn’t use instructions for this one but thought of the design myself. I was thinking of publishing my pattern for some time but I don’t like the design enough to go through all that work. But let’s start at the beginning: Continue reading
Tania Culottes und Plantain Tee
Spring is lurking around the corner and I have nothing to wear ;) So I started my seemingly annual T-Shirt sewing marathon. This is the third time in a row that I sew myself a pile of T-Shirts in April. I first cut them all out, then I sew the shoulder seams of each tee, than the neck binding of each one and so on. Just like I think it is done in a sweatshop ;). The last two years I started this marathon because MeMadeMay was about to start and I felt I didn’t have enough basic tees. Continue reading
Bathrobe Burda 2653
5 days before we took off to spent some days in a holiday apartment that has a sauna I became aware that I didn’t have a proper bath robe. How convenient! I thought I had everything and didn’t really need to sew more clothes, but here I was. Without bathrobe! So I immediately started looking out for a suiting fabric, The holiday was only a week or so away and I knew I wanted 100 % cotton terrycloth. Continue reading
Hide Away – Longhoodie
I commute by train. I have to change the train 2 times. This has its disadvantages. But there is also the advantage that if I have to wait there are kiosks at the stops that sell sewing magazines. I know them all, the latest patterns in these magazines. Most of the time I just look and do not buy anything. Tis variety of patterns in sewing magazines overwhelms me, and words cannot describe how much I hate it to search the right pattern line with twenty of other lines in 10 different colors drawn over the line I’m looking for. Continue reading
1083 – 101 Marvin’s new pair of jeans
Not so long ago I blogged about a pair of jeans that I made for Marvin. I used the Thread Theory Jedediah pants pattern and I wasn’t that satisfied with the outcome. I think the pattern just wasn’t what I was looking for, the cut simply isn’t the style Marvin usually wears and likes. It is a little too wide at the upper leg an too narrow at the lower leg. Thankfully Cornelia commented on the pants, hinting me to a German blog, where someone else hints towards the free jeans patterns of the French company 1083. Continue reading
Coombe
I just finished this dress in time to show it off before it gets too warm here. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make it, it took me all winter and most of autumn to finish this thing. I don’t think anything ever took me so long so complete. Teh dress started with a big 1 kg ball of fiber that Marvin gave me for my birthday. The fiber is from Australian Merino Sheep and very fine and soft. It was combed into roving and consisted of 3 different shades of red, you can find a product picture of it here. Sadly I didn’t take a picture of the huge roving ball I had, looked ridiculous, and I remember thinking that I would never finish spinning it. Continue reading
