‘Alpenglühen’: I don’t know if you guys know this word, but well, this is the pattern name of a cardigan I made recently. I don’t even know what Alpenglühen means, but dict.cc finds a translation to it (alpenglow) so this must be a thing. However I didn’t buy the pattern because of its name, but because I liked the way it looked. And because I had the perfect yarn for it. And as usual I have a story to this project. As you might have noticed: I love telling stories! I’m so glad I found blogging, I have an outlet for all of those stories and no one is interrupting me while I am telling them. It’s not only that I’m sewing my favourite sewing patterns for the second or third time right now, I’m also knitting duplicates. But only of patterns that I really love. Like the Bloomsbury sweater. I made one in green and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately the yarns felts a lot and I do not dare to wear it as often as I’d like to. So I decided to make another Bloomsbury from different yarn. Today I got another (ex) holy grail for you! It is a knitting holy grail this time. You see, my analogy doesn’t make sense. I have some grails, and they often change. Every time I reach one I got three grails more. But maybe that is exactly what a holy grail is ;) However, this project was a really huge one, it took me two month. I#m really into blue at the moment. The fabrics I buy and work with are blue and the yarns I knit with are blue. I always thought that my favourite color was red or violet, something fresh and exciting, but know I’m somehow stuck with with boring blue. I remember that when I was in pre school my favourite color was blue. And then blue eye shadow got trendy and blue lots its appeal to me ;) There are still some shades of blue that I really dislike. Like royal blue. It reminds me of 90’s bathrooms. And of a German football club.. ;) Continue reading
It would be a pity if I had to stop wearing the sleeveles blouse I showed on wednesday just because it is getting colder.Luckily I knitted myself a matching cardigan ;) Okay, I admit, that the matching wasn’t intentional it just happened. When I looked for fabric to stabilize the button bands I realized that the blouse’s fabric matched very well because there is a tiny bit of turquoise in it. But back then I wouldn’t have thought that the blouse and the cardigan might look good together but when I tried it just for fun I actually liked the combination. Continue reading
My second Marion! Right now I am reusing all of my patterns. Okay, that is not entirely true, I am still buying new ones, but not as many as usual! And my first Marion was made from left overs from another jacket and from the beginning I had planned to make another version of this cardigan, that has only one color. There was a big sale over at Drops and I bought lots of their Big Merino yarn. It is inexpensive and the quality is great. Plus it is worsted weight, and that is what I knit most! The reason for that is, that Andi’s pattern are written for worsted weight yarns and I love her patterns ;) Continue reading

So, today I’m going to show you what I wore at the sewing blogger meeting in Stuttgart in April. Yes, I finished knitting this cardigan back in April. I’m so behind with blogging right now! When I knitted this thing it was still snowing! Okay that was bad luck, we had terribly cold weather when we went camping in the black forest. Unfortunately it is still so cold here in southern germany right now, that I need to wear that cardigan in order not to freeze! The last week of may and with it the last week of Me Made May 15 has passed. It was a little more exhausting than the other weeks as I travelled from the far (German) north to the (Italian) south with a short stop Home in south Germany.
