There is this dutch magazine: Knip. It is released monthly and always has a lot of beautiful patterns. Since last year it is transltaed into german and the german version of the magazine is called fashion style. What kind of a name is that? I am refusing to call that beautiful magazine that. To me it is still Knip and the dresses are called jurks. Funny language, sounds like someone is choking, jurk :D However, I bought the May issue before I went to Paris and fell in love with Jurk 19A (maybe the beautiful name played a part…). In Paris I bought the perfect fabric for this dress and in the end I made a Bonnell Dress from it. Continue reading
Raspberry Aster
I already told you: I have tons of this Raspberry Ikea fabric. The fabric was a blanket once! A real huge one! Would I have known that there are larger blankets than my 1,55 m blanket, I would have bought it! There’s nothing better than huge blankets. But, now I am stuck with my only slightly oversized blanket and needed to make something else out of this super oversized blanket. I already made a dress and pants out of it and I love wearing them, the fabric is breezy and felt really good against my skin. Also I like the raspberries, they make the dress so summery. Rayon Bonnell Without Keyholes
I have a story to tell you! I had the whole June off! I was in between jobs and decided to take a month long break! And it was great. As I had read on several blogs the city of Paris is great for fabric shopping.. Guess what I did back in June! ;) Before I moved to Kalsruhe in southern Germany I lived near the Netherlands, it is a fabric shopper’s paradise there I tell you! And now I was on the look-out for an alternative and I realized that there is a train stopping at Karlsruhe, that stops in Strasbourg and then: PARIS! Yay! Continue reading
Marion the second
My second Marion! Right now I am reusing all of my patterns. Okay, that is not entirely true, I am still buying new ones, but not as many as usual! And my first Marion was made from left overs from another jacket and from the beginning I had planned to make another version of this cardigan, that has only one color. There was a big sale over at Drops and I bought lots of their Big Merino yarn. It is inexpensive and the quality is great. Plus it is worsted weight, and that is what I knit most! The reason for that is, that Andi’s pattern are written for worsted weight yarns and I love her patterns ;) Continue reading
Peony
Here’s another pattern I bought when there was this Thanks Giving/Black Friday/cyber Monday/Whatever huge sale over at Colette’s. Peony it is and it has been on my hard drive since then. I never found the right fabric for this dress Sale. When I didn’t work during June I went through my stash and I found a cotton-sateen fabric that I bought once to make a blouse from it, but I never did and I figured that this fabric would also be great a s a dress Continue reading
Cambie
A short while ago Tasia from Sewaholic published new product photos of older patterns. I liked those of the Cambie Dress so much, that I decided to sew me another one. I don’t wear the two Cambie dresses I sewed before that often (here the red one, here the black one). Somehow I feel overdressed in them. But those new product pictures made the pattern look so casual that I decided to give the pattern another try. Continue reading
Cooper
As announced in my previous bag post I made a second bag! I had the Colette Cooper Pattern on my computer for quite some time now. I bought it the last time everything was on sale over at Colette’s. I think it was the black Friday Week or something. I bought some other stuff too, like an old seabag because Christiane always sews such beautiful bags from them. But still I didn’t find the motivation. Continue reading
Tania Culottes
I am so behind with blogging the garments I sewed over the last two month. I had a lot of free time and so one garment after the other emerged and the one I was making looked always better than the one I was making before. So somehow the second Tania Culottes (pattern by Megan Nielsen) got lost in a pile of garments. I think I made it bay in May and then just forgot about it. I cannot even remember when I bought this fabric, it must have been in my closet for ages. But all the pattern pieces fit on it and so I gave this fabric a try. Continue reading
Lotta
Usually I don’t sew bags. It’s just not my thing, I’m not having fun sewing bags. I do have fun buying bags though :) But recently I had the problem that I needed a simple dark blue bag. I don’t have any casual bags. I have one small pink patent lather back. A turquoise back pack an olive bag with a colorful carrying strap and a grey one with pink stars. When I tried to buy a simple ordinary bag it just didn’t work. I don’t know what’s wrong with me there… Continue reading
OAL 2015: Flora Dress und Peacock Eyes Cardigan
All year I have been waiting for this years Outfit Along! It was such a great experience to participate in it last year and it opened some new doors to me knit wise as well as sewing wise. For those of you you haven’t heart about it yet the Outfit Along is about sewing a whole outfit. Lauren is presenting a dress she picked on her blog and writing in detail about all the steps it takes to make it. And Andi writes in her blog about the knitting pattern she picked. But everyone is free to chose her own patterns and make her own outfit. Continue reading
