2015 in retrospect

sewing2_smallI hope you all had great holidays! I sure had. A lot of sitting around, eating and knitting. Before the year official end I’ll show you my retrospect on the year 2015. I feel like it happened a lot during 2015 and I also feel like time passed by much quicker than the years before, guess that’s something that comes with getting older. Continue reading

Bruyorn

img_20151220_150901-1.. or Hawthère? Well, that’s what you get if you always use the name of th pattern you made as post title. If you’re making a pattern hack of a French and American pattern you might just end up with ‘Bruyorn’. Okay, I could have gone with something is. Wouldn’t have been the first time that I didn’t stick to my own principles, but to be honest I think Bruyorn sounds funny, and who knows, maybe I’m setting a trend and tomorrow everyone is sewing Bruyorn and I gave this hack its name ;) If you haven’t guessed by now, the dress I am going to show you is one half Bruyère and the other Hawthorn. Alpengluehen

img_20151206_114232‘Alpenglühen’: I don’t know if you guys know this word, but well, this is the pattern name of a cardigan I made recently. I don’t even know what Alpenglühen means, but dict.cc finds a translation to it (alpenglow) so this must be a thing. However I didn’t buy the pattern because of its name, but because I liked the way it looked. And because I had the perfect yarn for it. And as usual I have a story to this project. As you might have noticed: I love telling stories!  I’m so glad I found blogging, I have an outlet for all of those stories and no one is interrupting me while I am telling them. Plus I don’t have to listen to the boring stories other people tell. Haha, I’m kidding, I love listening to stories as much as I love telling them :) Continue reading

Lynn

img_20151206_114500After having finished my super comfy hoodie I showed on Wednesday I was so totally in the zone that I instantly made another hoodie. I didn’t even have to rethread my serger and I didn’t switch the pattern designer. I made another pullover from German pattern designer pattydoo. This pattern is called “Lynn” and sadly it is not available in English. I’m sorry! But it is very simple and quick to sew and the pattern is very cheap and well drafted. Continue reading

Janice

img_20151206_113804‘Chaaaaandler’ is what is in my head when I hear ‘Janice’. and when I think about I guess Janice was one of the best characters in friends! So I was kind of pleased when German pattern designer pattydoo released her new hoodie pattern ‘Janice. She always gives the patterns English names, but unfortunately most of them are only available in German. The time she released ‘Janice’ the male counterpart ‘Jordan’ was released, too. It is basically the same hoodie only for men and I already made one for Marvin. Continue reading

Hollyburn and Nettie

img_20151122_155452Today’s post has everything! A pattern that I’ve already made several times, a skirt and a new pattern! But there is almost no blue colour in it today. But a lot of red which seems to be my favourite colour as soon as temperatures drop and believe me: they’re dropping like mad these days. It is freezing here over in Germany. But well, there is no bad weather there is only inappropriate clothing! A good reason to sew something new to keep me from freezing ;) Continue reading

Bloomsbury cropped

img_20151115_143717It’s not only that I’m sewing my favourite sewing patterns for the second or third time right now, I’m also knitting duplicates. But only of patterns that I really love. Like the Bloomsbury sweater. I made one in green and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately the yarns felts a lot and I do not dare to wear it as often as I’d like to. So I decided to make another Bloomsbury from different yarn. Continue reading

Butterick B5526

img_20151107_160832This autumn I seem to make man third repeats of one pattern. I like to think that is a good sign. I feel like I have found some basics that I can rely on like the Ginger Jeans pattern or the Kelly Skirt. It is more fun for me to try new patterns but recently I also found joy in redoing a pattern and trying to make a really clean finish. I tried that with the project I’ll show you in a second. It is my third attempt on Butterick B5526, my favourite and reliable shirt pattern and I am really satisfied with the way it turned out! Continue reading

Kelly in wild!

img_20151104_133057Do you know that situation were you told your grandma that you liked something and afterwards there won’t be a Christmas or birthday where you don’t get that exact thing from her as a present? Well, in that matter, I am my own grandma. There was I time when I thought that a could use one or two more skirts and recently I find myself sewing one skirt after the other in the moment. Ginger and Lady Skater

img_20151108_143841After having some issues taking photos of my newest jeans I am finally ready to show it to you!:) The weather got better and I was able to take some pictures while I was in homeoffice. We also had great weather last weekend and so I got Marvin to take pictures of a whole new outfit, which consist of those already mentioned new Ginger Jeans and a Lady Skater TShirt. Continue reading
