5 days before we took off to spent some days in a holiday apartment that has a sauna I became aware that I didn’t have a proper bath robe. How convenient! I thought I had everything and didn’t really need to sew more clothes, but here I was. Without bathrobe! So I immediately started looking out for a suiting fabric, The holiday was only a week or so away and I knew I wanted 100 % cotton terrycloth. Continue reading

Hide Away – Longhoodie
I commute by train. I have to change the train 2 times. This has its disadvantages. But there is also the advantage that if I have to wait there are kiosks at the stops that sell sewing magazines. I know them all, the latest patterns in these magazines. Most of the time I just look and do not buy anything. Tis variety of patterns in sewing magazines overwhelms me, and words cannot describe how much I hate it to search the right pattern line with twenty of other lines in 10 different colors drawn over the line I’m looking for. Continue reading
1083 – 101 Marvin’s new pair of jeans
Not so long ago I blogged about a pair of jeans that I made for Marvin. I used the Thread Theory Jedediah pants pattern and I wasn’t that satisfied with the outcome. I think the pattern just wasn’t what I was looking for, the cut simply isn’t the style Marvin usually wears and likes. It is a little too wide at the upper leg an too narrow at the lower leg. Thankfully Cornelia commented on the pants, hinting me to a German blog, where someone else hints towards the free jeans patterns of the French company 1083. Continue reading
Watson Bras
Recently I managed to sew three fitting bras for myself. And as soon as I completed this task I began questioning whether I really needed them. It was a lot of fun sewing the bras and and all those bras that led to theses three fitting bras, but somehow I never really questioned the bra wearing itself before in my life. It just happened as if it was something natural, something you do, when you grow up. But wearing a bra was most of the time uncomfortable to me and I never felt like I needed the support that much. Continue reading
Colette Rue – Second Attempt
Maybe some of you remember: last summer Colette sent me their newest pattern to sew it up before they released it. It is called Rue, it features a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. The front bodice consist of three parts that, sewn together, create interesting seam lines. The dress didn’t fit me that well, but to me it looked like it fitted me like it fitted the model on the envelope more or less. Continue reading
Jedediah Pants & Max T-Shirt
I did some unselfish sewing! For Marvin, of course. He was thinking about buying two or three new pairs of jeans.I couldn’t let that happen, because, you know, that would be a total waste of fun! Also I thought that I now have a good fitting pattern for pants for him. It needed a little adjustment to pass as a pair of regular jeans, but nothing too difficult. Or least less difficult than finding a jeans pattern for men. Continue reading
Darling Ranges
I sewed another dress! Winter is a good as over (at least that’ s what I’m telling myself) and my dress isn’t that suitable for winter weather, so that is very convenient ;) Last weekend there even was a short window of time were temperatures were above 0°C AND it was only raining a little. I Took that chance and asked Marvin to take some pictures of my new not so wintry dress :) Continue reading
Ginger Jeans
I decided to start with a little destashing and so I finally had the right excuse to cut into some precious denim fabric that I bought ages ago. Initially I planned to make a pair of jeans from it directly after bringing it home and washing it, but then decided to make some more ordinary day to day pants first. So I made two and then decided that 2 pairs of ordinary single-colored pants is more than enough ;) And I really wanted to sew some pants! Because pants! Yay! Continue reading
Freedom Backpack
Until lately I used my Cooper Backpack to transport all my work stuff and it definitely wasn‘t made for that. It looses its shape so much, I’m missing pockets, it is not comfy and most annoying of all: just not big enough. I also had to repair some seams and it just looks like the whole thing is going to fall apart in the near future. So I thought about buying a backpack, because obviously I cannot sew a backpack that is sturdy and big enough to take with me to work almost everyday. Continue reading
Lumberjack Shirt
After finishing the dress I showed last week, I decided that now was the time to sew something foolproof. And something fun. Ans what is more fun than making and wearing a flannel plaid shirt? I love sewing shirts, I love working with woven fabrics and what I love the most is cutting plaid on the bias :) And another plus: flannel feels great against the skin. To me flannel shirts are secret pajamas :) Continue reading
