Watson Bras

Recently I managed to sew three fitting bras for myself. And as soon as I completed this task I began questioning whether I really needed them. It was a lot of fun sewing the bras and and all those bras that led to theses three fitting bras, but somehow I never really questioned the bra wearing itself before in my life. It just happened as if it was something natural, something you do, when you grow up. But wearing a bra was most of the time uncomfortable to me and I never felt like I needed the support that much. Colette Rue – Second Attempt

Maybe some of you remember: last summer Colette sent me their newest pattern to sew it up before they released it. It is called Rue, it features a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. The front bodice consist of three parts that, sewn together, create interesting seam lines. The dress didn’t fit me that well, but to me it looked like it fitted me like it fitted the model on the envelope more or less. Continue reading →

Jedediah Pants & Max T-Shirt

I did some unselfish sewing! For Marvin, of course. He was thinking about buying two or three new pairs of jeans.I couldn’t let that happen, because, you know, that would be a total waste of fun! Also I thought that I now have a good fitting pattern for pants for him. It needed a little adjustment to pass as a pair of regular jeans, but nothing too difficult. Darling Ranges

I sewed another dress! Winter is a good as over (at least that’ s what I’m telling myself) and my dress isn’t that suitable for winter weather, so that is very convenient ;) Last weekend there even was a short window of time were temperatures were above 0°C AND it was only raining a little. Ginger Jeans

I decided to start with a little destashing and so I finally had the right excuse to cut into some precious denim fabric that I bought ages ago. Initially I planned to make a pair of jeans from it directly after bringing it home and washing it, but then decided to make some more ordinary day to day pants first. Freedom Backpack

Until lately I used my Cooper Backpack to transport all my work stuff and it definitely wasn‘t made for that. It looses its shape so much, I’m missing pockets, it is not comfy and most annoying of all: just not big enough. I also had to repair some seams and it just looks like the whole thing is going to fall apart in the near future. So I thought about buying a backpack, because obviously I cannot sew a backpack that is sturdy and big enough to take with me to work almost everyday. Continue reading →

Woolmakers Bliss, A Review

I already showed the first outcomes of my new hobby: spinning! I’m still on it and enjoying it a lot. It is so nice to have even more possibilities and be more independent from companies that provide materials. At the moment I’m collecting supplies to spin yarn from local sheep in spring, when the fleecing season begins. So I ordered a drum carder. Lumberjack Shirt

After finishing the dress I showed last week, I decided that now was the time to sew something foolproof. And something fun. Ans what is more fun than making and wearing a flannel plaid shirt? I love sewing shirts, I love working with woven fabrics and what I love the most is cutting plaid on the bias :) And another plus: flannel feels great against the skin. Laurel Dress

There are some projects that I spend ages on, when in fact they shouldn’t‘t take me that long. Most often these are projects that I‘m not very passionate about right from the beginning. Today I’ll be showing you a dress where the passionlessness started with the pattern. Colette‘s Laurel Dress. Definitely not my usual style. Because,well: the bodice isn’t fitted and the skirt isn’t flared ;) But I found myself drawn to this pattern every other time. I have tried this pattern before once. Color gradient sweater

img_20161204_124311Almost 3 and a half years ago I knitted myself a color gradient sweater. I knitted it from some relatively thick cotton yarn and ended up using 7.0 mm needles and a lot of yarn. To achieve a kind of gradient color I knitted with 3 threads at a time, always changing the color of a single thread one at a time. The pullover was meant to be worn in spring but it got too thick for that and as it was knitted from cotton it also wasn‘t warm, enough to be worn during winter. Continue reading →
