Fair-Isle Cardigan

Last year at this time I was picking out the yarn I was going to use to knit my fair-isle dress, that I then finished in summer and showed in autumn. As I used different yarn than the one suggested in the instructions that has much less yardage per skeins I orderer way to much yarn and had over 1 kg left of Drops Karisma in all the different colors. I thought about what to make from it, maybe a blanket or some pillow cases? In the end I decided to make a cardigan, who would have thought that?! ;) Continue reading →

Polka Dot Boylston Bra

I still don’t feel comfortable with my bra sewing skills. And I certainly don’t feel like I have mastered bra sewing at all. I tried some patterns and sewed some bras but no one of them was a bra that I felt I could wear everyday and be comfortable. The red Marlborough I made came close. But after a few wears I realized that the cup is tiny bit too small which looks weired underneath some of my tighter tops. The same thing only worse with the Boylston bra: the cup was too small and the band too tight. Continue reading →

Ginger and Renfrew

Oh yes, I sewed another pair of jeans. Or two! And this time the pants are actually plain blue! Incredible isn’t it? After a time of red and tie-dyed Ginger jeans it finally hit me that it is time to make some regular old pants! And so last time I went to the fabric markets I kept my eyes open for some dark blue denim and I found some beautiful pieces, indigo died stretch denim for 12.50 € per 1.5 m. Continue reading →

Sports bags

I’m glad I already wrote that I’d participate in this year’s Bag Sew Along over at Katharina’s blog I think otherwise the bags I’ll show you wouldn’t exist. Sewing bags just isn’t that much fun for me as sewing clothes is. I don’t know what it is but it is really hard for me to get motivated when it comes to sewing bags. And this month’ theme is sports bags. I have a great and functioning sports bag. I is huge and I once bought it when I needed it to carry my sports clothes and my university stuff. Anémone and Renfrew

I sewed a skirt! I already announced that I will sew a lot a skirts this winter, so no one is allowed to complain ;) When it comes to skirts I would love to only sew Hollyburns and Kellys and Brumbys, but well I don’t want to bore myself and everyone else and so I told myself that it was time for a fresh skirt pattern and I chose: Anémone. I recently added new colours to my favorite colour list! Usually I feel comfy in everything that is somehow purple or blue. Maybe pink and maybe even red. But these days I find myself amazed by coral. So when I had one of those days were I felt eager to try new things I ordered some coral and even turquoise wool! Martha

Winter’s become cold here! And the sweatshirt fabric’s become inexpensive. Those were two of the main reasons why I sewed another sweater. I have to kind of force myself to wear dresses when I ride my bike to train station and I thought it would come handy to have one more sweater. Five-Pockets-Bag

I am not quite sure how to start this post. I think first I have to explain to you something special/peculiar about the German sewing blogger scene. When German bloggers talk about ‘Sew Alongs’ they don’t mean those American/Canadian/english speaking Sew Alongs were one persons posts about making a garment to explain the process to others. It is more like one persons says: ‘hey let’s sew dresses for Christmas’ (as an example) and then everyone sews different dresses reporting back about their progress every week. Continue reading →

Magenta Brumby

Magenta always was my favourite watercolour colour. I had this watercolour boy for art lessons in school. It was a Pelican watercolour set and every kid in school had it. Some even had the extended version that contained colour like silver and gold. Well I hadn’t. And so I was always out of magenta because I used it a lot. Magenta was the only positive thing about the art lessons in school. I really suck at drawing and I am always amazed when people actually can draw. Like when I first saw Bob Ross. Navy Miette

I hope you had a good start in 2016! I certainly had. A lot of knitting, hanging on the sofa, sewing, taking walks and eating. Our neighbor partied a lot. Since Christmas we heard basses all day and night long. And some guy shouting ‘yappaaa’ every half hour. For quite some time now he doesn’t even open the door, when we try to complain and our landlord stopped answering the phone (and on sunday we found dog turd on our neighbor’s balcony… at least I hope it was dog turd.. he doesn’t own a dog..)
